Bagh is a small village near Indore. This place is famous for its block printing and natural dyes. It uses 3 basic dyes, Hirda (light yellowish shade), Red (obtained from Alum) and Black (obtained from jaggery and iron mixture). Unlike places like Ajrakhpur and Dhamadka, this place has an access to free-flowing water (river), which is very important for the printing process. The river flows all year round and is still not contaminated by industrial waste. As it is said, minerals in water play an important role in fixing dyes and getting a particular shade, the red and black here is like none other.
