This beauty is handwoven cotton saree from Odisha. Navagunjar is a a creature composed of nine different animals. The version of the Mahabharata, written by the Odia poet Sarala Dasa narrates the legend of Navagunjara; no other version has the story. The Navagunjar motifs are visible in the lower border of the saree and in pallu. The motif is slightly changed to bring more clarity in the tie and dye fabric. The saree is light and a great party wear.
The family of the artisan have been in the business of textiles since time immemorial. They have around 30 families working for them. They have managed to move along with the market demand and has upgraded their designs with time.
