Kerala known for its backwater and greenery has a rich heritage of cotton fabric. It has extremely fine cotton fabric for sarees as well as thick cotton fabrics for bedcovers and upholstery.
Kerala has strict rules for textile industry when it comes to dyeing and managing its discharge. All the dyers have to compulsorily use VAT dyes (although expensive) which are accepted as eco-friendly in the international market. No dyer can discharge the waste water into drainage system without treating it.
The saree is handwoven by women weavers. It has a beautiful border borrowed from Urmal saree.
